This is a fabulous 4 mile (approx.) run (or walk!) over the Fursdon Estate. We take you on a hilly route through woods, across fields and you will experience some spectacular views across the Exe valley and onwards to Dartmoor. From the top of Cadbury Castle you can also see for miles looking north towards Exmoor. The route will probably be muddy and wet in places so do come prepared for that! We try to time the event so that the bluebells are flowering in the woods.
We have been hosting a Fun Run event at Fursdon for about 30 years each time raising money for our local church at Cadbury and also for a different charity each time too. This year we are supporting Cystic Fibrosis Trust. For more detail about the charity please look at:
Registration for this event will be from 1.30pm. The entry fee is £5. Children who are still at school are £2 and there is no charge for pre-school children. Dogs are very welcome – you must keep them on a lead as there will be livestock around. The charge for dogs is £2.
There is a water station half way round the course for people and dogs.
Everyone signs in to register (at Fursdon Coach Hall) and is given a card with check point numbers. At each check point the card is marked and at the end everyone receives a certificate. Tea and cakes will be served in the Coach Hall afterwards - everyone is very welcome to stay for this. The teas provided by Cadbury residents and friends, have become somewhat legendary over the years. Donations are greatly appreciated and of course this all helps towards the causes that we are supporting.
We usually welcome lots of keen runners but you don’t need to be a professional to take part in this – it’s all for fun and of course for charity. The majority of people enjoy the walk and the talk – and the tea!
